Hi, my name is Daniel. I’m a full-stack developer, a Judoka, and a minimalistic tech enthusiast, who loves all the new technologies, but still chooses to buy a minimal specs phone becasue it just does what it needs for my use

About Me

I am a full stack developer from Hawaii, who recently moved to Seattle to find better opportunities for myself in the tech industry. Software development was my all-time favorite subject while I was an engineering student in college. So much so that I made the decision to depart from my academic life to attend an online web development bootcamp at Bloc despite having excellent academic records and shortly after landing a contract job as a full-stack developer at Htech Studio. I can say for sure this was the BEST decision I have ever made!

I LOVE coding because it makes my visualizations come to life, and discovering all the different approaches when working in a team. I get to be inspired by other programmer’s perspectives when solving the same problem and be able to combine my unique ideas to come up with best solution together. However, I personally think the real beauty of coding lies in the process of problem-solving, where one must gain new knowledge or acquire different thinking to solve the problem, which makes us all grow as a programmer.

Some of the technologies I work with include, but not limited to

Hawaii Quiz App

Aloha! Hawai’i, the land of paradise and home to the most popular vacation destination in the world! Here is a quiz app that has a set of 5 questions and keeps track of your score. Living in Hawaii and being a former tour guide I have always wondered how much people on the mainland and other countries know about Hawai’i. The app features a restart button, a retry button after finishing the quiz and responsive design.

Device Hunt

As a minimalistic tech enthusiast, I always want to find a device that has just enough specs to suit my needs and offers a lot of capabilities for its price. But specs alone do not tell you how good the device actually is. So this app, on top of showing all the specs, will give you a list of review videos of the device you have searched, perfect for those looking for a device suit their needs. Searches can be filtered by phone brand, device, and model. The app uses Fono and Youtube API.

Last Minute Eats

Being a part-time worker and learning to code full-time. I could not afford to spend hours preparing a meal. So I decided why not make an app where people can only view recipes that are short and quick? Last Minute Eats has all the recipes perfect for those in a hurry or just lazy with less than 5 ingredients and 7 steps.

My Used Car Salesman

I had a very difficult time selling my beloved Mazda 2. Dealing with half-interested buyers, low ballers, and ones that decide to ditch at the last minute. Because I understand all the hassle people go through when selling their used car, I decided to make an app that saves car owner’s time by finding individuals who can sell their car and those who want to make some extra bucks by selling other people’s cars. All the user information on this app is protected with the JWT authentication system.

QouteIX

QouteIX image QouteIX image fullscreen

Qouteix is a proposal builder app aimed to help businesses make beautiful project proposals with an intuitive user interface and offer various useful features such as pdf generation, an internal emailing system, and private/public item database. This is the first app I have successfully built as a professional developer at Htech Studio.

Besides the tech...

I also enjoy being active in sports. One sport that I really prize is Judo, which I happen to be a brown belt in. I love training myself both physically and mentally. Training in Judo has always cleared my mind and has helped me get through mental obstacles especially when I felt like giving up. I plan to continue working hard and eventually work towards achieving my blackbelt.
